The Dexter Foundation invites partnership in advancing Beyond the Lights—a signature initiative dedicated to supporting athletes during and after their time in sport. When the spotlight fades, the challenges often intensify. Many athletes face identity disruption, mental health vulnerability, financial instability, and loss of structure—often without coordinated support. Beyond the Lights ensures they are not left to navigate these transitions alone.
As part of this initiative, we are launching the 999 Athlete Crisis Programming, a structured prevention and rapid-response model designed to:
• Identify athletes at risk for mental health crisis or destabilizing transition
• Provide immediate triage-level support and navigation
• Connect athletes directly to Beyond the Lights programming
• Offer ongoing care coordination and referral pathways
• Reduce escalation into emergency systems, justice systems, or unsafe coping patterns
This model functions as both a crisis interruption framework and a prevention bridge—ensuring athletes are connected to long-term stabilizing services before harm occurs. By strengthening the athlete, we strengthen the families, teams, and communities around them.
